I was born and raised in Sweden where the sun hardly sets in the summer and just nearly rises in the winter.  In Scandinavia, there is always something special about the light. The light is clear, and translucent  creating  clean and simple lines.

At sixteen I moved to Stockholm where my father gave me my first camera.  That’s when I became hooked and have photographed ever since. After school, I tried nursing for two years at Karolinska Hospital but after fainting at every operation, I realized that my sensitivity was not right for nursing but could maybe be used in another creative way.

I met my husband, David, while visiting the United States in New York City.  He was  a television producer and often commented that he really liked my photographs.  We lived in Manhattan for ten years and had two beautiful baby girls, and later moved to Connecticut while David produced Sesame Street in New York and I studied photography and the magic of  darkroom work in Connecticut.   I have always been intrigued by children’s faces and love capturing their innocence through the lens.

I was later hired by my husband  to photograph many celebrities on movie sets in California. When we moved to Virginia Beach, I opened our studio, Foto by Eva Ltd., to photograph children, babies and families, in spontaneous situations which is really my speciality.

After more than twenty-five years of photographing children and families, I have received many awards from the Virginia Professional Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of America, the Greeting Card Association “Louis Awards”, and published in the PPA loan collection books and also including being published in several, magazines and CD covers.

I have been very fortunate to have several commercial companies license my images for puzzles, calendars, and greeting cards.  We are always trying to find babies and children with a special look and then choose them for our model file to be shown as part of our licensing company’s product under Eva Collections.

My Swedish roots are very strong, influenced by the Scandinavian light and clean, simple lines.  That is why I have a notable style of high key photography which means a white background, wrapping the subject in a clean light and   uncluttered, simple frame that make the faces and expressions stand out on their own.
